Welcome
Welcome to the new website of Awaken School, a hypnotherapy and psychotherapy training organisation.
Awaken School, as a Member Organisation of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), provides students with a recognised pathway to accreditation as a UKCP Accredited Psychotherapist. We have expanded the number of courses available so that students have more options when searching for training.
We now offer Clinical Hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Psychotherapy courses in various locations around the country for students to increase their skills and develop exciting new career opportunities. Each course can be taken as a stand alone programme or combined to work towards accreditation and a Masters Level Degree.
The School's current pathway meets UKCP training standards and consists of several strands which a student is required to complete to be placed on the register:
1) 4 years post graduate training in psychotherapy (maximum of 50% may be APLd).
2) Substantial supervised clinical work.
3) Personal therapy & development plus a mental health placement.
We provide a series of optional programmes in the first 2 years of training and then compulsory modules in years 3 & 4.

Approval of Previous Learning
APL is the process of comparing a student's portfolio of work against the School's learning outcomes in order to provide an individual pathway towards UKCP accreditation. This is most important when students join the School and the UKCP pathway and wish to use previous experience and training, for example from another training provider or even another modality, as part their portfolio. There are guidelines for APL which is limited to a maximum of 50% of training hours and 50% of supervised client hours.
As you can imagine, it takes a lot of time and effort to compare an individual's portfolio against learning outcomes and to support and mentor a student joining the School and UKCP pathway. Consequently, from April 1st 2011, the cost of each APL application will rise to £200 per individual.
If you wish to discuss your portfolio and want to consider joining the School, please contact the office either by phone or email.
PLEASE NOTE - THE COST OF THE SCHOOL'S TRAINING COURSES HAVE BEEN HELD FOR 2011 AND CONTINUE TO BE VAT FREE !!
